Empowering women and families through education, hospital infrastructure and art.

The Jentle Childbirth Foundation (JCF) provides the tools women and their families need for them to achieve a positive birth experience.

The JCF approach has been designed to empower all women during their pregnancy and birth journey, whether it’s a vaginal birth or caesarean section.

The Jentle Childbirth Foundation was founded by midwife Jenny Smith in 2007 and it achieved charitable status in 2017. Charity no. 1179559

Jenny’s work for the JCF has always been supported by the mothers, partners and their families who were grateful for their experience and wanted to help share the experience with others.

Walking the Circuit: A Journey of Birth Support. 27 Feb - 18 Mar 2026

Trekking the 110-mile Manaslu Circuit in Nepal to raise funds for Jentle Childbirth and a new film highlighting the birth-and-beyond circle of support.

After completing the Pennine Way four years ago, I’m taking on a new challenge: trekking the 110-mile Manaslu Circuit in Nepal, reaching altitudes of over 5,000 metres, to raise funds for Jentle Childbirth. I’ll be joined by my son, Oliver, on this demanding journey.

The aim is to fund a new film that explores the importance of a strong, holistic circle of support for parents during childbirth. Through conversations with mothers and holistic practitioners, the film will look beyond the clinical setting to highlight ways childbirth can be made calmer and more supported.

The trek is fully self-funded, and 100% of the money raised will go directly to the Jentle Childbirth Foundation to produce the film.

A personal approach to induction of labour

In the UK, one in three women are offered an induction of labour.

The aim of our film is to give you information regarding induction and what to expect during the induction process if you decide to have one.

A Hindi version of the induction film can be found on our videos page.
